How can ancient wisdom help my life? What does God have to say to me today?

This summer and early fall as a church we are getting an overview tour of the first 5 books of the Bible — called the Torah, Pentateuch, or “The Law”.

We began, fittingly, with the book of Genesis. The vast majority of Genesis is dedicated to God working in the messiness of people’s lives and the world they live in. Then in the book of Exodus God delivered his people from slavery and made them a covenant community. The third book was Leviticus, where we saw that God both calls people to holiness and has made a path to make that possible. The book of Numbers asks big questions of how we can be faithful to God in times of fear and look to God for healing.

We have arrived at the book of Deuteronomy, where Moses preaches a sermon calling on people to live into the promises God gives and choose to walk in faith. The big question is: Will they follow God in the way of life? This questions looms so that at end of the book the challenge is put out there: Now choose life!

In the Pentateuch we see God take decisive action, demonstrate his care, and point to his future deliverance in Jesus Christ. We pray that Sunday messages will encourage our hearts today and help us to grow.

So, whether you are just checking out Christianity or if you have been following Christ for a long time, there is something for you in this series. We look forward to you being a part of it.
