Rest in Our Mission As Gift Receivers

Christmas is an annual reminder to meditate on the amazing miracle that the God of the universe became a human being.  One place where we see Christ’s humanity is in his temptations (Luke 4). Ok, it’s not a very traditional Christmas text, but there’s great stuff in there for us to meditate on the incarnation.

In his first temptation (Luke 4:1-4), Christ shows that his mission is to serve and not to be served. And this is where our rest comes in—Christ wants to serve you (it’s not the other way around). How will you live as someone ready to receive from God?
