The Christmas carol, “Joy to the World” includes the memorable phrase, “Let earth receive her king!”

As part of every heart preparing him room, during the Sundays of Advent we think more about how to “Let earth receive her king!”

For our scripture texts, we are going to look at four poetic outbursts by different people in the first two chapters of Luke:

• Mary’s song: Our King Changes the Story

• Zechariah: Our King Comes to Rescue

• The Angels: Our King Brings Peace

• Simeon: Our King is Lord Over the Whole Earth
